(*The following article is a spoof and should be taken as a work of fiction, though the reposnes from JSM are real.)
Thank you members of the media for joining us here on this beautiful summer day. Obviously you are all aware of the tremendous and unique opportunity that is about to be bestowed on us here in the next few days--that, ofcourse being the recent aqusistion of audio accompanyment to both the JSM Cafe and to JSM Cafe:Sports. But right now I'm here to take your questions, so let's get this thing started.
Reporter #1: Mr. JSM this is certainly an interesting new element to your site, how exactly did it come about?
JSM: Rather suddenly to be honest. I got a tip from a blogstream colleague and than did some investigating and BOOM, tested it out and discovered a new and exciting wrinkle to employ.
Reporter #2: How do plan to utilize this new wrinkle, as you put it? I know that audio is currently being used on several other blogs both here at the stream and elsewhere. Are there any new ideas that are currently in development that you could share with us, and that might be seen as innovative?
JSM: Well, I believe that this new aquisiation opens up a whole new set of doors that were previously un accessable. I mean, you can go back to some of the past features we have run here and than you begin to realize that the power of music can add so much to the overall impact of a story. I think that is the first thing that my readers will notice once this feature goes into effect. As far the plans that I have for its use; I don't want to get into the specifics here, but I'll just add that there are definitely some interesting ideas in the works in which music plays and important role.
Reporter #3: So is this is a permanent addition as opposed to a one week ratings ploy surrounding the 4th of July Holiday?
JSM: Oh, absolutely not, this new feature will be here to stay, beyond next week. In fact, I would go so far as to say that a majority of my work here in the future (at least when they are first posted) will be specifically served with an appropiate score to accompany it. That may not always be the case, but it will in most cases if the story calls for it.
Reporter #1: So will the music serve the story or will the story serve the music?
JSM: The music will serve the story 9 times out of 10 would be my guess. I'm not of the belief that the presence of music should be there without serving some purpose, so all the music that is chosen for a particular story will have a direct correlation to the work itself. Because when all is said and done it still comes down to the story. If it's not entertaining or informative, people won't read it, that's just a simple fact. So the story is still top dog. You can play Mozart in a junk yard, but it's still a junk yard. The story and the quality will always be the #1 agenda here.
Reporter #4: You mentioned past articles and how they would have been better with the music, are their any plans to re-post any past works with the music added?
JSM: I an currently looking into that idea at the moment, and I think it is something that could be considered down the road. I never like to take any ideas off the table if I think there is interest in them, that much is for sure. Alright I'll take one more.
Reporter#2: Will the music be available at both of the Cafes and will it be the same music at both sites?
JSM: Yes, the music will be part of both JSM Cafe & JSM Cafe:Sports, but no, the music will not be the same at both sites. They will remain independant of each other in terms of the music that is chosen. However, I do plan to do some cross interaction between the two sites in the future when it is deemed appropiate. But for the most part the music like the stories will almost always be different.
JSM: Thanks everyone for coming out, that about wraps it up, I invite you all join me here at the Cafe this Monday as a new chapter -so to speak- begins. Doctor J will be returning and ofcourse the 25 Greatest American Sports Icons will be unveiled as well. So don't forget to pump up the volume starting next week. See you all then.
